Antwerpen In Dutch Literally Means "Hand Throwing"
By BrendanAntwerpen in Dutch literally means “hand throwing.” There’s a legend that some giant cut off people’s hands who couldn’t pay the toll to cross the river, but then a Roman defeated him and in an act of irony cut off the giant’s hand and threw it away. This statue shows the victor doing just that. There are hands cut off at the wrist in many forms throughout the city - including statues and chocolate!
